Yes, that’s right. Translations were complicated. Welcome to the next generation of translation: it’s customer centered, faster, simpler, more economical and with better quality. If that has peaked your interest, strap yourself in as we take you on a quick spin through the LiLo translation process.
Imagine having your translation projects on autopilot, start to finish….
You upload a file and define the target language and domain criteria. Our automated AI system takes it from there. We run the complete analysis, present the most qualified translators for your specific project and criteria, and give you instantaneous quotes from the matched translators. You then choose the translator (or translators) you want to work with based on their qualifications, customer ratings, and price. It’s a fully transparent, and simple process.
The Lilo platform becomes your all-inclusive hub for all of your translations projects. When you work with an LSP and want to change to a new LSP, you lose your TM. With LiLo we host your TM for free and you have the flexibility to allow any translator to access your TM for translation projects, giving you control and flexibility.
And every new file you upload is checked against your memory for re-use of previous translations. All future translations on the LiLo platform are automatically added to that memory. And it’s your memory. If you use multiple translators or change translators, you can give them all access to your memory.
For each translation project LiLo will match translators who meet your specific criteria and instantly give you a price quote from each matching translator. You will see the profiles of each translator, including their rating from other customers. YOU select from those translators the one you want to work on YOUR project.
The status quo has been either working through an LSP or purchasing your own translation software.
LSPs manage your translation project, but they also make all the choices for you. You have no clue who's doing your translation, what their qualifications are, the level of quality assurance, and whether the agency is using the same or different translators for each project or even within the same project. In addition, if you aren’t happy with the LSP and want to change, you lose your translation memory.
Alternatively, you can buy translation technology and host your own translation memory, but that presents its unique set of issues. It’s costly to purchase the software, it requires additional human resources to manage and maintain, you must search for and qualify your own translators, and you need to request proposals from each individual translator and wait for their responses.
Enter LiLo, the platform that gives you full visibility and complete control over your translation project, and the LiLo pool of translators to choose from. And within our pool you can start to build your own sub-pool of “favorite” translators. You have complete control.
Buying your own translation technology means huge licensing fees, as well as substantial hidden costs. With LiLo you don't have to buy technology. It’s part of the service when you use LiLo as your translation platform.
With LiLo you DON’T need to:
With LiLo, it’s built into the platform.
We store your translation memory, but you decide what to put into it, when to delete stuff out of it, or when to do maintenance. You can split your memory by product lines, and, you can even share a memory with a community of other customers. The LiLo platform offers you guidance and expertise, with automated recommendations on how to manage:
If you change translators (for any reason), the centralized TM will make sure the new translator gets all the leverage from your regular translator (it will guide him to use the same style, tone of voice, terms, etc.). Then when you go back to your regular translator, they will have access to the work done by the other translator. Easy, right? It gets exponentially better when you need to use multiple translators because you have so much translation work.
Translation memories will recycle all the previous translations. When you upload a document to be translated, the system will calculate statistics on how many reuse there is. These statistics then translate themselves into rebates that are applied on the translator's pricing. When you work with freelancers directly, they might not always give these rebates to compensate for the other work they need to do. With LiLo all of this is automated, so you always get the rebates.
Also, you decide what kind of quality assurance is performed on a job. When it's your regular translator that you trust, you might be happy with his translation alone. For important documents, you might want to apply the four-eye principle and have someone else read through the text so that there are no typo's or other small mistakes. When using a new translator, you might want to use your regular reviser to go thoroughly through the text. You see, lots of different quality assurance options, all of them with their own pricing of course. So you decide the importance of the text and how much budget to allocate.
All of these options allow you to optimize your translation budget. We understand you don't just want to save costs, you want to translate more with the same budget, because the more content you have translated the better your SEO becomes and the more customer conversions you get. It's proven … According to Harvard Business Review, customers are 72.4% more likely to buy when content is available in their language (https://hbr.org/2012/08/speak-to-global-customers-in-t).
Translation is a peculiar thing: it looks easy, but the devil is always in the details. At LiLo our goal is to have you to do as little as possible. You can keep your source file format and we'll convert it so the format doesn't get corrupted during the translation process. Just upload your file and our artificial intelligence will discover which tags need translation etc.
We'll give the translators the tools they need to complete the translation. And our interface is laced with guidance that will help you make the right decision at the right time.
The LiLo communication channel between you and translators is streamlined so everyone can follow the progress and give input when needed, making the translation process move faster, while increasing productivity, and enhancing the quality of your translations.
You save time because we save your preferences so new translators can learn from your previous translations. No need to repeat yourself. If working with multiple contractors, they can discuss among themselves which options are best for your project.
Your information is safe behind our firewalls, but automatically accessible to all the subcontractors working on a project. Access is removed automatically after they completed the task.
All your translation projects will be in one place, accessible to any translators assigned to that project. You don’t need the expense of your own special server. Your files aren’t scattered here and there on different team member's PCs. If you lose a file, we’ll still have it. It's like having your own sophisticated content management system. You get to use it as part of the LiLo service.
Our agreements with our freelance translators is that they remove any temporary files after they have completed the job….. no loose ends. You know where all your files are.
Inversely, if your policy requires that we do not store any of your files, you can choose to have your files removed from our system within a certain number of days after project completion and it will be done automatically.
Security is a priority. Your stored files are encrypted when inactive. Malicious access to our system will be futile. Even, in the unlikely event that data was stolen, it won't be of any use to anyone, as it's fully encrypted.
This enhanced security also means LiLo helps you stay GDPR compliant (see next bullet).
Since the implementation of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), the saying has changed from "don’t shoot the messenger" to "don't shoot the processor". As any company post-GDPR will tell you, we're only a processor and not a controller. Truly, we are just the processor. We provide you with a tool to manage your translation projects, but we cannot know what is inside the documents, the significance of that information, or the purpose of your document. We only store your files. You decide when you pass them to which translators. But here's the cool part with LiLo: we ask our translators not to store a local copy, but you can enforce that policy by selecting "only allow the translator to use the online editor". No more dangling copies. If you delete projects from the LiLo platform, the copy is gone. The same applies for user data of your employees. Once deleted, it’s gone.
There is an exception if you choose to use the shared translation memory, in which case your data is shared and can’t be “unshared”. It's the equivalent of publicly posting your text on a forum. That may be ok for some of your information, but not other information. You get to make that choice but it will be your responsibility to make sure that what you enter in the shared memory translation can publicly be shared and complies with all GDPR rules.
Tip: If you want to use the shared memory, instead of translating a personal employment agreement, translate an employment agreement template. Have the document translated before you fill in the names, addresses, salary, etc.
If you're working with freelancers directly you're getting a multitude of invoices at different points in time. Your accounting department is asking for specific payment terms, etc. With LiLo your invoicing issues disappear. You get one invoice, delivered immediately when you download the translation. No more waiting or tedious back & forth communication. Check the “invoicing hassles” off your list!
LiLo aims to centralize everything translation related. We have translators for translations and translators for revisions and will soon onboard freelancers that can do the lay-out work for you. During translation, if the text gets shorter or longer, these Desk Top Publishing (DTP) experts know the file formats (MS Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, etc.) and can correct any layout issues. We're also working on an integral online tool to allow your local people to do a validation of the translation, sometimes referred to as in-country review.
So, simply put ….. our goal is to centralize all the technology you’ll need for easy and fast translations, with improved quality, while saving you time and money. (Yes, we know that may sound too good to be true.... but it is:)
We provide the translation memory, the terminology glossaries, the machine translation, a translation editor (if you want to translate a document yourself), a tool for in-country review, a dashboard to see an overview of, and manage, all your ongoing translation projects, a communication channel for everyone involved in a translation project, and, of course, reports to help you manage your budget. We're serious!
Perfect! Sit back and relax. You'll love what we have in store for you. In fact, when we started designing LiLo we had companies and translators in mind, but the larger our drawing board grew, the more it became obvious, internal translation departments may have the most benefits from LiLo.
Among other things, LiLo:
We hope we've answered your questions and that you're ready to get started. It's easy... simply drag and drop your file and watch what the tool does for you. If you're still not convinced, let us know. We're sure the LiLo platform outperforms any solution out there, but we want you to be sure, as well!
